Pitch Of The Week: Mime: The Musical

pitch of the week

One of my jobs is pitching shows.  Most of them don’t get picked up.  Soon you will understand why.

It’s Thursday.
It’s TheDrCaptain.com.
It’s Pitch Of The ballflicking Week.

This week’s pitch:

Mime: The Musical

Outline:

A musical dramedy in the style of ‘Glee’ and ‘Smash’, with the major difference being that it is entirely silent.

Commissioner’s reaction:

“A… silent… musical?”

My retort:

“Did you see The Artist?  That was kinda like a silent musical.”

“That was in no way a silent musical.”

“It was silent.”

“… And not a musical.”

“It won an oscar…”

“It won five oscars…”

“I think you’re just proving my point now.”

“You still haven’t explained how a silent musical works.  Let alone how it works for 22 hours of a season.”

“… Are you offering me a 22 episode commitment?”

Executive Decision:

“Mimes can’t do musicals.  Come back when you have something better.”

“Mime: The Silent TV Show?”

“Get out.”

Next week: I pitch the kids show “RapeCat: The Cat That Loves To Rape!”
